On Sep. 5, Glencairn Elementary hosted U.S. Department of Education Secretary, Miguel Cardona as a part of his Back to School Tour. During this time, Cardona had an opportunity to learn more about the Talent Together Teacher Apprenticeship Program in which ELPS participates. This program, which is supported by the Michigan Educator Workforce Initiative, is in place to serve students who would not otherwise be “affordable” within the district. These services include but are not limited to special education, language programs and parent services.
“The visit went great,” Superintendent Dori Leyko said. “We felt that it was very successful in communicating our message regarding the importance of teacher apprenticeship programs like Talent Together.
