On May 16, ELHS hosted its annual prom at the Kellogg Center, where 520 juniors, seniors, and guests filled the ballroom. The evening consisted of dinner, dancing, and a post‑prom celebration at High Caliber. This year’s theme, “A Timeless Soiree,” shaped the decor throughout the venue. There was a red carpet backdrop, red and yellow lighting, and a photo booth with props.
The Kellogg Center offered four entree options, with dinner included in the price of the ticket. Students got to pick from 67 tables and food was brought by waiters. Reactions to the food were mixed. “I got the chicken and mac and cheese, and it was fine,” Rachel Hunt (11) said. “The mac and cheese didn’t have enough cheese in it.” The meal was convenient and well‑timed, but some items were said to have lacked flavor.
The “Timeless Soiree” theme was reflected in gold accents, soft lighting, and feathers and flowers in centerpieces throughout the ballroom. The decor created a formal atmosphere, and the photo backdrops stayed busy throughout the night as groups rotated in and out. While the theme wasn’t heavily integrated into the music, there were still slow dance opportunities.
The DJ mainly played well-known pop and rap songs, with a couple of slower songs scattered in the mix. The music kept the momentum of the night going, and students consistently returned to the floor after breaks. “My favorite song they played was Beauty and a Beat,” Atalaya Martinez (11) said. “I love Justin Bieber, and everyone was screaming the words.”
After the dance ended at 11 PM, students traveled to High Caliber for post‑prom, which ran until 3 a.m. Activities included go‑karting, arcade games, axe-throwing, and karaoke. Tickets to post-prom were 40 dollars, and with their tickets, students were given tickets that were drawn for different prizes. “I won a Polaroid setup in the drawing,” Jillian Marr (11) said. “I was really impressed by how good the prizes were.”
Overall, ELHS’s 2026 prom was a well‑organized night with strong attendance, good energy, and a successful post‑prom. “I went with a group of friends, and I had a great time,” Nelly Flynn (10) said. “This was my first prom, and it was a night to remember.”
