Just after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9, Associate Principal Quiana Davis announced in an email to staff she will be resigning from her job at ELHS, effective January 9.
Davis was hired in early 2021. According to a Portrait article titled “Working On The Work,” published Dec. 2021, Davis applied for the job wanting to find social justice work and wellness in the district. She had yet to find a job working at schools where encouragement took place regarding those topics.
In the email to staff, Davis acknowledged how her experience at ELHS was so meaningful to have been a part of. Davis expressed her gratitude for being given the chance to work at the high school as she felt that her knowledge had been expanded by the help of her coworkers.
“My time here has been deeply meaningful. I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity,” Davis said in the email. “Being part of such a dedicated and compassionate family has shaped me profoundly.”
Davis hopes to potentially return to ELHS in the future, continuing her support of the district in a different capacity.
“This decision has not been easy, but it comes from a place of self-awareness and desire for continued growth,” Davis said in the email.
This is a breaking news story and will be updated as more information is made available.
