During the championship game, the Ninjas were down 2–3 in the final minutes against Puck Dynasty. Throughout the season, many teams had called Puck Dynasty their “biggest threat” and “the team to beat.” Some players even expected them to be the victors in the final.
At this point in the match, Ninjas player Max Adams (11) admitted he thought Puck Dynasty would win.
But that didn’t stop him and his team.
“We had to keep sticking with it,” Adams said.
The Ninjas hadn’t been predicted to win or even keep the game close.
“Everybody doubted us, which gave us motivation,” Adams said.
Goalie Carter Sible (11) played a key role throughout the season. Sible went into the season with baseball experience, aiding his ability to make saves through an understanding of hand-eye coordination.
“There’s no pause in the game when you’re goalie, you always have to be alert and ready,” Sible said.
From the bench, Eric King (9) described the game as tense to watch. In previous years, the Ninjas had lost in the semifinals, making this championship appearance even more meaningful.
“I was very grateful to be a part of the team and see us win the championship,” King said.
The final score of the game was 4-3 with the Ninjas taking the championship hat.
“Winning made it feel real, after all the games we had played.” Oliver Gemmel said.
